Option 11 with Succession 3.0

I have gone into LD 17 with the second level password and attempted to change the banner from Nortel to our company name. The change went through successfully, however, it does not display on the phones. In addition, Nortel has never displayed on the phones either. Is there somewhere else I need to go to enable the banner? Here is the printout. Thanks.

what phone sets are you using?

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

Hi,

Check your ISM's.

If you want to change the branding text, the branding option in the ISM's should be set to 2.

If it's set to 0 or 1 you can't change it.

Branding doesn't work on 2616's. It only works on M390x.

Go into LD 143 (TTY 0) to check branding. Type:

.UPGRADE
.3 (Utilities)
.8 (Current Installation Summary)

Press return untill you get the menu again. Scroll up and look and the branding ISM. If it's set to 2 you can change it. If it's set to 0 or 1 you can't.

Hmm, okay, thanks. I could have sworn I had seen banners at Nortel on their 2616's before.

Brandlining DOES work on 2616's.I have it running on my switch with 2616's.

Do you see any problems with my programming? Also, how can I get to TTY 0? I only see TTY 1 in the switch room and TTY 4 via ProComm.

There's a cable coming off of the bottom of the main cabinet with three 25-pin connectors. They should be labeled TTY 0, TTY 1, and TTY 2. Use the one for TTY 0 in order to check the UPGRADE info. The speed of the port is set by the dipswitch on the front of the NTDK20 SSC. Just connect a laptop serial port or a terminal (or modem) to that connector and check the necessary information. Many times TTY 0 is connected to a modem (or SEB) so you could dial in possibly if you have the modem number.

I believe that certain procedures such as upgrades/software patches/etc can only be performed remotley from port 0.That is why the SEB or remote modem is usually connected to port 0 during installation. As far as the Brandlining/Idle display feature. If I remember corrctly back years ago when I did it.I found I could enter the programming in LD 17 as you did and then see it in the prt out in LD 22 SLT, however when I called for assistance they said I needed to buy the software package to support it.I just prt'd my PKG's in LD 22 and I can't remember which one it was.I will reply again if I find it.

Ah-hah! Thanks for the SEB suggestion. Verizon installed a second modem on my PBX so I could dial in and leave the SEB idle, in case there is a need for the SEB to dial out. Here is the printout.

I have a 0 and a 2 in the Brand line.

The 0 is before the keycode is entered and the 2 is after the keycode is entered (Old - New)

The text below shows how to change the banner info (In LD 17 - PARM):

IDLE_SET_DISPLAY Nortel
MODIFY yes
PWD2 (Your 2nd level PWD)
SUPPORTED_TEXT_ONLY
IDLE_DISP_STRING xxxxxxx (Your String)
IDLE_SET_DISPLAY xxxxxxx (The string you've entered)
OK yes

one234,

Yep, that's what I did, but nothing is displayed on the phones. Any other thoughts?

You have to have the newer 2000 sets. you can tell by looking at tha handset and line cord connecters on the bottom of set. The newer phones (have a two line display) the connectors are facing the same way. The older sets, these connectors face opposite.
