One of the websites i run is getting about 5gb of bandwith a month soley because people are googling spring break and its hitting pictures on the site.

What I would like to do is capture all urls coming into the gallery folder that arent referred from the sites url and prompt one of those graphic boxes with the random alphanumeric string that the user needs to type in.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I would go about finding this information? Thanks.

Hi,

This is not very hard, but if you get ***** very much hits, you might have some system load, when generating those images.

I posted some code on this forum once, that made some kind of code like that.

I think I remember that I based it on sessions too, almost a login script , if youd' like.

I searched it for you:

It envolves: Random generation of picture, using sessions for "Login".

eg. User must auth, before continuing.
You simply use the referrer and then wrap this in a function or maybe just in an if/else or something like that.

it's not very advanced, but it will work good.
ps. you might also consider just showing a small thumb instead of large pictures, so the users have to click on the thumb to view the pictures?

This will also save you b/w.

Good luck!
