i have a hipath box and i have voice connections setup with Avaya pbx on the far side...the wan connectivity is through AT&T MPLS
i was told that compression standard by my collegues in Hipath system at the far end is G729 ,stilll the average call is occupying 39 kbs/call...i remember using cisco router/Mux only occupies 17 kbs with similar standard.
is there is anything that we can do so that per call utilisation can be reduced to say 20-25 kbs/call
also my callers will be using same voice connections for sending faxes too...do i need a diffrent configuration for fax...or will the device understand that this is a fax call and thus information will not be compressed.
please suggest
