Hi all,
This might sound like a noob question but I was wondering what is the command to monitoring bandwidth usage? I have this is server at work that keeps going down every week but its b/c they saturate their bandwidth. What other command can I run to monitor server resources. thanks.

I like to use orca, which gives both a nice graphical output that characterizes the system performance over time.

SunFreeware ( has a utility called iftop that should give you what you want. Here's the description...

iftop does for network usage what top does for CPU usage. It listens to network traffic on a named interface and displays a table of current bandwidth usage by pairs of hosts
