Not sure if this is the right forum. Please advise me if not.
Using LogMeIn I often transfer large files (500 MB to 5 Gb) to and from two of the servers in our rack over the internet to my machine at home.
Server a typically transfers at about 300 KB/s
Server b typically transfers as about 1,000 KB/s
Server a: Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition 5.2 (build: 3790) Service Pack 2
Server b: Windows 2000 Server 5.0 (build: 2195) Service Pack 4
Server a is a database machine (SQL Server)
Server b is a web server
I only atempt files transfers when traffic is at a minimum.
Why is Server a so much slower in transferring files than Server b?
Some workers complain that attempting an FTP connection to Server a results in a timeout. (That's why I use LogMeIn.)
