We have a PIX 515 with a VPN, we have a 512k leased line. Some of users are now coming ion via ADSL/Cable. I do noyt want these users using up all the bandwidth and would like to limit connection speeds. I would rather limit the users than purchase a faster connection.

Many thanks
Ian.

HI.

The pix does not have such option, so try doing it at the router.

But first of all, I suggest monitoring the traffic to get more info on the current status.
Did you get complains from users that the VPN is slow?

The VPN users will normaly load your uplink, while internal users will mostly use the downlink of your connection, so maybe you have no problem here?

Sorry, but I have a question not an answer. I need to set up a vpn connection from one pc in our network to a server elsewhere on the internet. I have a pix 515 version 4.4. How did configure your pix for vpn to work?

Foxfire, you probably want to upgrade your PIX OS to at least version 5.3(2), but I recommend going to 6.1 in order to get all the latest VPN commands and features, as well as fixes for various issues that existed with older OS versions.
