I am currently working with a company who have a 3rd party hosting partner who are managaing the network. They have reported more than once that the reason this company are having problems with mail delivery is that the full 2MB of the comms line was in use for the whole weekend.

So my question is, can anyone tell me if there is a log or something similar they should be checking or doing to inform us where all the trafic is coming from? I am pretty green with router configs, so any help would be useful.

Oh and I need some info ASAP please, I've just been told we're meeting them today at 12:00.

Thanx

Gary

Sounds like you might be the victim of a DOS attack. Your 3rd party folks are likely using a simple SNMP application to graph your bandwidth utilization. Identifiying "top talkers" by IP address, TCP port, etc. requires a little more sophisticated network managment platforms.
