Baffling Word 2010 hyperlink problem--some work, some don't!

I have a Word 2010 document in which I have pasted pictures from my friends’ Facebook pages. On each picture, I have right-clicked to add a Hyperlink and pasted the link from each friend’s home page. Then to view, I click on the picture, right-click and select “Open Hyperlink.”

For about 70% of my 20 pictures, this works beautifully. For the other ones, I get the following error:
“Unable to open The internet site reports that the item you requested could not be found. (HTTP/1.0 404)”

Some links have the name, some have a numeric ID; both types of links work for some people and not for other people. In every case, I can open the link if I paste it back into my browser. It doesn’t appear to be related to the picture I attach it to, since I have tried pasting the actual hyperlink text into Word and the same ones work and the same ones fail when I try to open them.

Any suggestions to get these last links to work? Thanks!

Can you identify what differentiates the working links to the non-working links?

No, that's the odd thing, I can't see any pattern between which ones work and which ones don't (including direct versus indirect links per below), and I'm pretty good at seeing patterns.

I was able to change the non-working links by switching them from referencing the friend's home page directly to referencing it indirectly via a link on my page, and gave the presentation successfully. So I will probably not spend any more time trying to figure this out unless I stumble across something. It's just very puzzling. THanks for asking.

Even if you got it to work and no further solution is necessary:

Could it be that the non-working ones are not open to the public but only to friends? That would explain why they work indirectly. When you link them via your own page, facebook would probably recognize the caller as a friend of your friends, therefore the pictures are accessible and the link functioning.

Just a thought.

I would agree with MakeItSo, it looks like a problem with their accessibility settings rather than anything you are doing wrong.

Hmmm you could be onto something, but why would any of the links fail if someone IS my friend and I am logged into Facebook when I click on their link in Word? (i.e. one link was to my son's page, it failed, but a similar link to his wife's page worked...both are Friends).

Just a shot in the dark!!

From my browser I can connect to my facebook account if I'm logged in to facebook but get the "Content not found" if I'm not logged in.
