Hi,

We have a 3Com OfficeConnect 40 GB NAS server we use to store backups and shared files. But I noticed that some files take up to 4 times the space on disk in comparison with their actual file size. So I would like to defragment the drive to regain some space. But there seems no way to do this. I searched the 3Com Knowledgebase (although not worthy of the name) but to no avail. And there's no utility available either to defrag the 3Com NAS.

Does anyone have an idea how to accomplish this ?

Regards,

David

You should backup all data in a extern media (tapes, another NAS, your PC, etc.), delete all data and put it again.

cheers.
