Hi there,

i am wanting the same effect of this badge ,as you can see its beveled in parts, which i have tried to do, but comes out looking nothing like this badge. Could anyone please give me help on this, maybe a step by step tutorial on how to do this, or any tutorials out there, that would give me some help

thanks very much

Hi,

For that effect you would use bevel and emboss.

Goto LAYER > LAYER STYLE > BEVEL AND EMBOSS

Then you set the style (inner, outer etc) and the depth of the bevel (your posted link would have a small depth) then set the direction and the angle of the lighting and the opacity of the shading for the lighting.

Once you have the appropriate settings for your needs simply hit ok and now you have a lyer style to that layer, and anything else you add to the layer will have a bevel applied to it.

Hope this helps!

Yup, Sypderix's solution will get you the base of the badge (gold area). For the center area where the flag is on the sample badge, you'll have to create another layer with Bevel & Emboss, but this time go in the opposite direction.
