Bad Word and Excell when restoring novell tape with windows Arcserve

Hi everybody,

we had a headcrash on one of our sys-drives (Novell 5 Server).
This was extrem bad because the backup-soft was installed there.
Now we did, as we thought,a good trick.
Installed W2K Workstation and Arcserve.
Tried to restore the data which was written with arcserve under novell.
This was not succesfull because:
1. Everey File got's a message in the log "Stream not XXXX "
2. Data restored and long filenames where shortend to 8.3.
3. All datafiles of MS-Office like .XLS or .DOC corrupted.

When opening .xls with excell, then the spreadsheet shows up, but there comes also a message saying that the Filestructure is corrupted.
When opening .doc with word, then the file loads and the docment shows up, BUT all of it's document-layout is gone and there are a lot of pagebreaks and special characters.

PLEASE:
Does anybody out there knows anything about a way to get my data from that novell-build arcserve backupset with a windows based arcserve version ?????

When you used SMS to backup ( and I assume you did ) you also need SMS to restore. I think You'll have to install ARCserve on a Novell server to have your data restored.
