My PC has the following specs:

win2k server
P3 1Ghz
Shuttle AV18ET
Chipsets: VIA Pro 133A (North bridge), VIA VT82C686B (South bridge)
Trident 3D 64MB Video card
Yamaha 3200 CDRW
512MB SDRAM
Iomega IDE Internal Zip
Marconix MX98715 NIC
40GB IBM

The onboard sound is barely audible. I have tried different drivers but the output is still soft. Speakers are functioning correctly. Short of getting a sound card, what other things can I try?

Thanks!

Almost all software audio controls come with volume controls...and Windows also has them if you want to install them...for doing it go to Add/Remove Programs/Windows and have your CD handy.
Be especially careful when going in and out of the dialog box not to UNCHECK anything you don't want to uninstall...or it'll do it.

Actually, I've already checked that part too. Volume controls are cranked all the way up and sound is still barely audible.

Are sure you are using the green output and not the head-phone jacket.

Don't want to insult you or something, but that's often the reason why the sound is too silent.
