I'm dealing with an iMacDV with a 6-gig internal drive. It's stimied 3 separate procedures... Final Cut Pro has crashed repeatedly while trying to capture; Norton's Disk Doctor has gotten stuck without completing a media diagnostic; and Drive Setup aborts a Test Disk, encountering an "unrecoverable error". All 3 of these happen about 5/6 into the drive space. I would have thought that Norton could have dealt with it, but since it can't, should I suspect that the whole drive needs to be replaced?

Last ditch measure, reformat and reinstall the OS. Losing all your data is a bummer, but this may save you the price of a new harddrive and installation fees.

good luck!

Would go with norm on this one, but would make it a low level format though. It will take longer, but will possably get rid of the problem. If you can't fix it in 20 minutes call someone who can.
