Hi everyone

I have a 2600 series router that a student of mine was doing a password recovery one, and has relly mest the router up. He was in rmon mode but has seemd to doing something to the router that now you can no longer access thit at all. When I use hyper terminal, and connect to the router all i can see when I press a key is a bunch of mest up text. It looks like if you have the wrong boud rate set, but i have checked all the setting and still nothing. Can anyone help?

THanks Chris

Hi

You say you have checked the baud rate. Does this mean you have checked your hyperterminal is at 9600, or have you tried other values?

9600 will only work if the router is still at 9600.......

Hi Chris,

Try these steps:

1. Turn off the router.
2.Set your terminal (hyperterminal) to the lowest baud setting (150 or 300 baud). Click the connect button.
3. Turn on the router.
4. If you see garbage on the screen, click the disconnect button and swith to the next higher baud on hyperterm.
5. Power off the router.
4. Click connect and power on the router again.

Do this using baud rates faster than the previous and eventually, you'll get to the correct baud rate that your router is mistakenly set to.

It is important that you click on the connect and disconnect buttons so that, depending on your PC/laptop's serial port, it can re-synchronize. You can't change baud rates while connected, anyway.
