Hi, I'm Italian so sorry for my bad English. I have a problem with Subreport and, i believe, with database. The problem is:
When I change, in the application (VB) calling the report, the database from which I extract the dates, the report is not complete, there isn't the subreports!!!!
I believe that in te report file (*.rpt) it store a riferiment to the name of the first database, so when I change the name of the database it go crazy.
Is it possible? or I wrong something??
Bye

P.S.: Also sorry for my bad English

let me make sure i am following this correctly...
there is a report that is written off of fields from database "A", but you want to be able to also run it off of database "B"?

if i am thinking correctly (which is never garunteed), but if i am thinking correctly it would not work as the schemas would be different in the other database...

this is only a guess deangelis, as i am far from being an expert here. hopefully i am wrong and there is a way for you to get this to work... good luck with it!

1) You are thinking correctly

2) In theory it would work, because the schemas of the database is the same, it is different only the database's name. I can't believe that if i make a report file and then i change only the name of the database, the report file don't work, better: the report file work but the subreport no!
Thanks

ironically, the more i thought about this, the more it did make sense... i have even had this problem when i wrote a report for someone in another hospital that uses the same scheduling package that we do... the report would work fine for me, but not for them... i am not sure how they fixed it - or if they gave up and tried something else... i am going to find his email addy and try and get in touch with him today and find out...

good luck in the mean time...

<laughing> just think of it this way - your english is better than my italian [smile]

my great-great-grandparents were from Seciliy, my mom used to talk about them sitting in the living room talking in Italian... i really wish i could have experienced that...
over the years our family has lost all the "old world" traditions... it is so sad... i wish there was a way to get them back...

anyway - i am getting real off topic now lol...

i will let you know if i find any answers...

I has been a while since I run from VB so I can't help you through the code but..

Subreports maintain their own database info, so if you want the subreports to also point to the second database you will need to setdatabase in the subreports as well. As I recall it wasn't too difficult once I knew I had to do it.
