We are having trouble with a BCM 400 hard drive rls 3.6 upgrade to 4.0 We want to have a new rls 4.0 drive formatted with the our key codes, does anyone know what the procedure is to have our key codes uploaded onto a new drive?
If you're at 3.6 and want to go to 4.0, you will need to buy an upgrade kit which includes an authorization code to upgrade your license files. You then download the new licenses from KRS and load them into your new 4.0 system.
If you're at 3.6 and just want to install a new drive with 4.0 software on it, that's another story. You can do that if you want but you will still need to buy a keycode migration autorization code and update your license files as above. but you do realize however, that you will need to reprogram your system from scratch though. Not the best way to get to 4.0.
Thanks for the reply telcodog, but what I am saying is that we are on 4.0 now and are having trouble with our hard drive we are having to reboot occasionally and would like to replace the drive with a formatted 4.0 drive. Do we just type in the key codes and features or is there some other method?
Shouldn't be a problem buy your new 4.0 Hard Drive. Install it in BCM, get your keycode file install it. I do not know if you have a good backup or not. But if you do you need to make sure your putting the retore on a BCM with the exact same patches or it will corrupt your drive and then you have to start all over. . .
Thanks DJ4020 for the reply. I tried doing just as you said and it wont take the keycode and I am not sure if it is because of the upgrade keycode or the sequence # but I have tried manually and with the upload and it does not take.
You need to go to Nortel KRS and get a Keycode remade. You are not upgrading you are restoring a failed drive therefore the need for a new keycode. . .
