Bad hard disk?

I just bought a used Sun 2.1GB hard disk for my SPARCstation 5. It's identical to the disk that's already in the system. When I attempt to format this new disk, I get a "format failed" message, asking if I want to format w/o mode selects and Grown Defects List. I say yes, and it then comes back "format failed" with a Sense Key: Media Error. I try to label the disk, and I get several "logical block out of range" errors, and the label aborts. My question is, is this disk totally hosed, or is there some low level-type thing I can try? Luckily there's a warranty on this thing! [surprise]

Thanks! Mike

Thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking too... get rid of the hard drive. Mike
