On my PC I have installed Adobe Acrobat 3.0. When I go to a web page to open a PDF document, it is opened using run Acrobat Exchange 3.0. This is an old version of the Adobe Acrobat package. However when I open a PDF document on my PC, Acrobat Reader 4.0 is used. How can I tell my web browser to Acrobat Reader 4.0 too?

I had that problem once. Uninstall Acrobat 3.0. You don't need it if you have 4.0 installed. I think I had to manually
delete Acrobat Reader from under the (C:) directory in Explorer. Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 is listed under Program Files/Adobe. Version 3.0 and older was under the (C:) directory. I think this is right. I remember it drove me crazy that it was always opening with the old issue. After I deleted any reference to "Reader" under the (C:) directory it started using 4.0.

Are you using IE or Netscape? IE uses the same file associations as Windows but Netscape doesn't and has it's own set of file associations. joegz
