I went to take the exam today and had a really bad experience. I showed up early and ended up taking the exam an hour late because of "technical difficulties". (Testing computers kept on crashing) After helping the net admin trouble shoot one of the PCs, I finally got one PC to load the testing software and got myself started on the exam after 4 attempts. The guy b4 me taking the exam left b/c the system crashed while he only had a few more questions left. He said he would reschedule. Anyway, I took the exam with all the distractions, not to mention the admins kids running around with bells tied to there hands, I Passed :)
949/1000. But heres the problem, I got to my congrats screen and viewed my score then some other windows about a survey. The exam ended and I was to pick up my printout. But with my luck, the lady at the counter said that everything printed except for my score sheet. She tried to reprint and was unable to. So she said that she sent an email to prometric letting them know what happened and that i should just wait for my certificate in the mail. The lady was able to get to a screen where she could view peoples names that took the test and weather they passed or failed.

Does anyone know if there is a way of finding out whether prometric did recieve my results or not? I know I can call them but I would have to wait for the holidays and wait for the weekend to finish. T J

What a mess... I would think it's anyone guess right now if they got it. I would think that if you actually saw the screen then it should be logged somewhere that student number &#*(#(* passed the test on such and such date.

Well.. congrats on passing and I hope the cert makes it to you.

That sucks when the testing center gear crashes, i've gotten a few free vouchers + retest because of it. I
would check with cisco education after Jan 5th to see
if you are in the database. Congrats on passing, my
co-worker is scheduling his around the middle of Jan
(the test in Fall 2003 is gonna be a PITA, since you
will have to also know OSPF (Single Area), EIGRP, VLSM,
and some WAN (BCRAN) material

I dont mind retesting, it was alot easier than i thought it would be. I just dont want to have to pay for it again. Plus i took some time off work to study. Anyway Ill just have to wait and see what happens after the holidays. T J

For anyone that was curious, cisco did recieve my score. So everything is cool now. T J

Well.. that is the important thing isnt it? :)

When I was taking my MCSE advanced server test, the #(*#)( testing server crashed with 4 questions to go. I had to cool my heels for a couple of hours and completely retake the test. I'd swear the questions were harder the 2nd time through.

And yes, I passed it :)

That is ****ed up (questions being harder 2nd time around)

:)

I can understand the technical difficulties happening once in a while. If computers and networks never broke, most of us here would be out of a job.

What concerns me is the distraction of noisy kids in your testing center. To be a testing center, they have to maintain certain standards. I'd critique it for sure.

In the past, I used to just shrug this stuff off; but with each paid test adding up in the 'ol bank account, I'm starting to get more demanding. This stuff gets expensive. Since you pay for the test, you have the right to a proper testing facility.

Good job on the test. Sounds like you definitely earned that one with the conditions you were under. I'm glad it turned out ok.

Just a note to everyone. ALWAYS keep the printout from your test. I've had cases where Prometric did not get the results. They will accept a faxed copy of the notarized printout and update your records accordingly. Stay on top of them. If you don't see results posted within a couple of weeks, call and see what's up. They have been very helpful with me.

Well, at the prometric center I usually go to
(along with a Vue center), the testing room is
isolated with a closed door, and closed circuit
TV to make sure you don't pull out cheat sheets
stuffed in your pants, etc.

The room usually has computers so that three
people can test at the same time, if need be.
I've never seen rug rats at a testing center,
and certainly not running around where they
could interfere with persons taking tests
(hmmmm).

"Usually" is a big word. Ive taken other tests with prometric and at those places they were very professional. As far as kids go, I dont care if theyre in the workplace or not, just as long as they dont get in the way. I got what i wanted, but I really feal bad for other people who will have to go through the samething. Its not that easy to take a test with lots of distractions specially if its not in the "usuall" manner. T J
