I have a 5GB Samsung SV0511D harddrive. I recently formated it from My Computer and when i tried to put some stuff on it i got a CRC error. When i try to format it in partition magic i get an unknown error and when i check it for errors in partition magic i get a bad boot signature byte error. Now the harddrive is in RAW format. Is there anything i can do to fix this? I am runnin windows XP pro

Download and run Samsung's diagnostic utility to see if the drive is ok. If it is, try something like killdisk (google for it) to completely wipe drive (writes binary zeroes to it) - then try partitioning and formatting it again (I'd advise using XP's disk management - run diskmgmt.msc - to do this).

Thanx for the help. the samsung utility showed that the drive wasnot good.
