Bad audio on some external calls

We are trialing a 3300 with 5201, 5330 and 5340 phones. The Mitel is connected via DPNSS to a Siemens ISDX for breakout. We are experiencing a problem that occurs sporadically on 53x0 phones where a breakout call is made and the recipient of the call complains that the caller [us] is very quiet. If the call is made again the problem usually doesn't happen.

So the ISDX is a gateway between the 3300 and the PSTN? What type of interface to the telco is it (LS/GS analog trunk, Digital trunk, BRI/PRI)? Could be a trunk problem, need more detail to be much help.
