Morning,

New to tek-tips and relatively new to InDesign. Have laid out entire magazine only to discover that all of the left quotation marks are backward. Does anyone have any idea why this happened and more importantly how to fix it without going through the document by hand and doing so?

Thanks,

Sarah Beth

hi sbhopton,

It's an option in your preferences. In the type preferences deactivate 'Use Typographers quotes".
If you do it with no document open this feature will be deactivated for all new documents. If you do this with a specific document open, the feature is only deactivated in the open document.

hope this helps

Is there a way to change quotation marks that are curly to straight quotation marks, to text that has been placed in a indesign doc.. without having to change them all manually?

thank you

hi bloodwars,

The first step in my first reaction has to be done.

Next go to Edit > Find/Change.

You get a box with some options.

The first rectangle has a black arrow at the end, click on it and go to 'Right quotation mark'.

In the second square just use your keyboard quotation mark key and do a find and change. You have to do it four times for each kind of quotation mark.

You have also the option of doing it for this story, all stories, all documents and so on.

Good Luck
Carlow
