backward compatability

I have a series of simple forms that I have designed using R5 Designer Client. I have now been asked to make it work for Notes 4.6 access. I am new to the delights of Notes and Domino. Currently I am using Comboboxes which lookup values in a view to populate the dropdown lists. When viewed in Notes 4.6 these dropdown lists appear as long tables of check boxes.

How can I sort this out?
