This question refers to Modular, Modular Plus and Compact.
How can you take a backup of a Norstar and copy the data onto an e.g. laptop. Is there a serial port to connect to? and would you need an admin handset to use in conjunction to carry out the backup?

You can backup your system by using the Norstar Remote Utilities (NRU) with a Remote access device (RAD) or if you have a ICS with the option enabled an Internal Remote access device (I-RAD) then use the NRUs Backup and restore program to connect to the RAD and backup the system. NRU also has an Excel Workbook that will allow backup to the workbook and then can be manipulated and re-loaded, personally I do not think the workbook is that great because of the speed (a 16 year old in the third grade is faster) and complexity of the workbook but it works out fairly well for a visual copy (going thru programming and handwriting everything on the programming record is faster) JerryReeve
