Hello,
I am using BE10 and my backups are not copying to the correct tapes. Does anyone know how I can change that?. I have created media sets M-F,Week1-Week4,and Month1-Month3. Now since I run daily, weekly, and monthly backups I was hoping that my backups would copy to the correct tape. We are using a auto loader and for some reason for example my daily backup tonight when I come in on Monday may wind up on Tuesday's tape, my weekly backup may wind up on month 3. How I can make it where the backups will copy to the correct tape? I would like my Daily backups to copy on what ever day is getting backup, Weekly backups to copy on week1 - week4 and rotate weekly, and the monthly backups to rotate between month1 - month3. Any suggestions will be most excellent. Thank you for your time..

I had a very similar issue using a DELL 122T auto loader.
What it turned out to be was the auto loader, or robotic library, was in SEQuential mode. It would write to the next tape in the sequence which was based off of the last slot sucessfuly written to. And since all my tapes had overwrite protection on them for 6 days (to protect a week's data)it would automatically seek out whatever slot was next in line, that had overwriteable media in it.
Monday was backing up to Thusdays slot and so one...

This was caused by me being out sick and missing to put a tape in the next day's slot. We only put in that day's tape and keep the rest off site. Since I missed a day, and I put in the next day's tape it ran the missed backup which was 'queued' waiting for media so it through everything off by a day. after a few days ever tape was non-appendable and over write protected to beyond the backup window.
Check your docs on your autoloader to determine if it is in SEQ mode or RANdom mode
