Whenever I do any kind of backup on ARCserve 2000 (backing up fully patched Windows 2000 Advanced Servers) the backup finishes, but reports as being 'incomplete'. However, everything appears to have been backed up. ARCserve is patched to the latest ver.

Is this because I do not have the agent for open files installed?
Grateful for any help on this

Hi Kurlach,

Yes you are most likely correct in your assumption that you will need the open file agent. This is a typical reason for incomplete backups, especially with files that are in use by the operating system. Also, what Nost just mentioned can also be a cause of this.

Nost - to get around this try avoiding selecting individual files / folders below the root level drives. You can select the entire directory from the root level and then setup a filter to exclude the other directories / files specifically you do not want backed up. This problem that you mention appears to have flowed over from the arcserve 6.x days.

Thanks,
