Backups are not getting files that exist in folders selected. Specifically, the SQL dump files exist in the SQL backup directory but are not backed up to tape. The backup ends "successfully" if you call missing the most important files successful! ADIC unit has 3 DLT drives and at least 2, if not 3, jobs run simultaneously. Any suggestions? Veritas says it is not supported! [thumbsdown]

Try stopping the SQL services and then running the backup to see if thats whats locking the file open. If so, maybe you can work your way around this by scheduling SQL to stop during the times you are performing the backups, and then restart again. Otherwise, I suggest paying for the SQL option of BE.

Sorry, but the SQL services on the SQL server have nothing to do with the files in the dump\backup directory not getting backed up. They are not locked open, like the main database is, by SQL server. Besides we are already using the Open File Manager in conjunction with BackupExec. We have found that by running this particular backup job later in the evening, the dump file is picked up and put on tape. It appears that we had the backup job scheduled too close to the time that the SQL maintenance was running and dumping the backup file to the directory. So even though the file was already there in the directory, the backup job missed it because of the timing of when the file system was enumerated (by BackupExec).
