BackupExec 8.5 for Novell, timeout error, hangs

We are using BackupExec 8.5 for Novell on a Novell 5 server. I started running a restore job and it failed with sense. The abend log indicated BE caused an abend. BE is now "aborting" but I am unable to unload BE or clear the error. The information I found at Veritas indicates the server needs to be rebooted which is my usual solution but at this time resetting the server is not convenient. Has anyone found a way around this problem and a way to unload the BE modules without having to reboot the server?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
