Hi,

I am using Arcserve 2000 and currently using the Agent for 2000/NT to backup different servers.

I need to eventually rebuild a server that is running as NTSERVER1 on DOMAIN1, and will end up being W2KSERVER5 on DOMAIN2.

I am able to get a session restore to work, but it is transferring all the security. This is a problem as the groups/users are not the same and therefore I do not have access to the data with out resetting ownership, etc. This process seems long and ugly.

Is there a easy way to restore the data without any security references? I have tried a few things, but not yet found a simple answer. Or maybe my best choice is to remove all security layers on the data the night I backup before the server migration!?

Any thoughts/assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

In the Restore options, under the "operations" tab, uncheck the "Restore and Preserve Directory Attributes and Security Information" box. This may do what you want. You may still have a job cut out for you to set up the new security information, but you shouldn't have to run around taking ownership of everything first.

Hope this helps.
