I am using a domain account to run my sql server agent but, am getting the following message only on the backup job (all others run fine)

Microsoft (R) SQLMaint Utility (Unicode), Version [Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState: 28000)] Error 18456: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM'.

I did remove the builtin admin account - but the domain account has access to all databases on the server. Why would it use the NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM account?

Any suggestions? :) Thanks

Look at the backup job the maintenance plan created. See what account is set to run this particular job.

Thanks

It is owned by sa but, it runs in the context of the domain/acct since that is the login for the sql service agent. Does the MSSQL server service and the agent need to run under the same account? (currently the MMSQL server service is still running as the local system account) That was the only other thing I could think of....For a workaround I used the domain account under the general tab and the sa account under the connection tab for the sql agent (in enterprise manager).
