Hi,

I did retension of the tape but still it is the problem
I did the backup but when I tried to run the command to write to a tape it gives me the following error

tar -cv filename tapedevie

a /data/oracle8/database_backups/backup_kvs_db.tar.Z too large to archive
Backup stopped with errors. Backup file was not stored to tape.

Can anyone help me regarding this.

Difficult to say exactly, but are you using the compressed tape device (/dev/rmt/0c or similar)? If not, perhaps this is why you are running out of space.

Hope this helps.

The file size is 8.3 GB and tape is
50 GB and 100 compress

Hope this will help you to answer my question
