Backup to separate DB and transaction log files

We are currently using Backup Exec v8.6 Advance Server to back up SQL server database. During the full DB backup, there is only one file generated including both data and transaction log together.

As a result, we are unable to make use of Log Explorer to view the transaction log, for it requests single transaction log file(.LDF).

Does anybody have any experience of obtaining separate DB and transaction log files during a full DB backup?
