Typically I backup my changes to the PBX but I never backup to a floppy or anyother type of media other than directly to the system. Would HDD_FDD be an option to backup the system to floppys?

which version of 2400 do you have? IMX / IPX?

If you have a CPU with floppy then you need to run MEM_HDD
then MEM_FDD. Depending on the size of the PBX you will need 3-7 or more floppy disks. My recommendation would be to save each file to its own floppy disk E.g. DM001.dat to a disk DM002.dat to a disk and label accordingly.

You should really upgrade those CPU's if you still have floppy drives.

Actually I do have the 2400IPX and use MEM_HDD for backup purposes but I need to be able to backup to a removeable media for Disaster Recovery Plans and an offsite location.

Does your IPX have Floppy drives or the removable PCMCIA Cards? If you have floppy drives in the CPU use the previous post for removable media. If you have PCMCIA removable hard drives in the CPU there is a completely different process. NEC has a backup utility you can use to copy data off of the PCMCIA cards, save to your PC, and transfer to any media type you want.

No floppy drive on CPU rack, we do have the PCMCIA card. I guess I will need to contact NEC for this backup utility. Thanks for your help!

If you have an IPX MAT CD, then it is included and can be loaded separately.

I have several IPX cd's, what's the application called?

You can also use the SV 7000 Flash card tool. This will add a folder to your start menu called "MAT tools" the FLCVTR program is in that folder.

Alright I've got 2 tools installed and one is under the MAT program menu labeled "flash card tool." Then I have another one in its own menu and its labeled "MAT tools; FLCVTR or MSVICD" just like NECPBX30 has stated. Do I need to have an PCMCIA card reader and writer on my computer to do this backup? I've tried launching the flash card tool but it states that a flash card must be installed in the PCMCIA slot.

Yes, the flash card has to be plugged into your PC to launch the tool.

You will need a flash card reader / writer to perform this operation. Before you remove the PCMCIA card from the switch do a MEM_HDD. Then use the CFCS command to stop the drive. This will not impact system operation. After this remove the card from the pbx and put it in your pcmcia reader. Start the FLCVTR program and select option 3. Select the drive in the fisrt drop down then browse to the location you want to save the files. Once you execute this process should take about 10 seconds. Replace the drive in the pbx and go back to the CFCS command and log the drive back on.

Thanks guys both of you have been very helpful, I will try and complete a backup once I get a card reader/writer. Thanks again!

I used to back up to the MAT terminal as an extra precaution. Ours was an IP connection so it went fairly quick. Then you can move the folders to a CD.

Sorry, its been over 4 years since I had the IPX otherwise I would send you the steps.
But it is/was possible.
