Hi,
I have a bit of an odd problem with my backup tapes. I have a 2003 server with a traven tape drive in it. The problem is that when I try to perform a backup with certain tapes it fails. Now to elaborate the tapes that I got with the server are seagate 40gb travan tapes, I only got one of them and it works fine. I bought another 5 20gb traven tapes for the backup rota but when I attempt to do a backup it just tells me straight away that the tape is not ready and needs formatting. When I click OK to format it flashes back to the main backup screen really quickly. Then when I attempt to do the backup it just repeats the media not ready or no space on tape message.
Am I missing something here, I have tried to prepare these tapes to be used as backup but it doesnt seem to be grafting for me. Is it possible that the travan drive only accepts the bigger tapes?
Any advice would be appreciated
