Backup tape info retrieval

I am needing to retrieve information from a backup tape that was copied from an NT Server onto a Macintosh Beige G3. I don't know what software was used for the tape drive (a Sony SDT-7000), nor do I know what I need to get this information. I don't want to have to purchase special software for a one-time use if I don't have to.

Any suggestions? Need help ASAP.
