Backup system vs singles

Hi everyone
My system is setup to do a full backup daily. I 'm being asked if it is possible to add single mail boxes to it.
What I would like to know is:
1. Can that be done, if so how. I tried to add mine to it with append. I've tried for two days now and it's not working.
2. Could I change from the full daily to the singles so I could restore messages in individual mailboxes?
3. What would be the hardware changes I would need? At the moment it's to a tape.
4. Could I do both with a full once a month?

A Full System backup backs up the entire system.

A User Archive can back up sets of mailboxes. If you want to backup up individual users, use this type of backup, either to tape, or a network shared folder.
