What is the best practice for backing up the Operating System drive (typically C: drive)? Do most people include this in their backups or do they just do a systems state and in a disaster scenario do a fresh OS installation, restore system state, then reload the applications?
At my previous employer we only backup the data and system state, never backup the entire OS drive.
At my new job, everything is being backup including the entire C drive. This is for 66 Windows servers and difficult to manage due to the # of tapes needed. Full backups are on the weekends and differentials through the week.
How does everyone handle there OS backups?
