We have a lot of Windows 2003 servers that we are backing up as NetBackup clients. All are on 1GB network (not dedicated for backup). There are many different functions to these servers - some are file servers, app servers, etc.
We are using Windows 2003 servers for our media servers as well.

What are folks seeing for backup speeds? I see a variance from less than 900KB Sec to over 18000 KB sec. Obviously, we want it to be as high as possible. It seems as though the servers with the smaller files are slower, which at some level makes sense. What tweaks can be made to increase backup speed?

Thanks!

Make sure that VSP is turned off. (unless of course you want it on..!!)
Check your data path tuning.

Hope this helps to get started.
However, I have left the NBU world behind now but can safely say that I have spent hours pulling my teeth out trying to get windows backups to go faster...

Good luck

We want VSP on.

What do you mena by "path tuning"?

Thanks!
