I'm having a problem finding a good sales rep. Here's what we would like to do and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. We have 6 Novell servers and 4/5 NT/2000 servers we would like to backup using Backup Exec. We're using Arcserve now.

My question is: Should I use backup exec for Novell and use client for windows or should I use backup exec for Windows and use client for novell. Help!

It depends on what you want as the Backup server. If you install the Veritas Backup Exec on a Netware server and if you want to back up the NT/2000 server, you must install NT/2000 remote agent on the servers to be backed up.To backup a remote Windows NT/2000/XP Professional systems you need to install the BE Remote Agent on the remote Windows system. The Remote Agent software is present on the installation media itself.

You may also find the following technotes will be helpful for additional information on how to install the Remote Agent.

Title : How to install the Backup Exec for NetWare v.9.0 Remote Agent on Windows NT/2000/XP

Note : The Remote Agent to backup remote Windows workstation is free of cost, however the Remote Agent must be installed on the remote Windows workstation.

Alternatively the Remote Agent to backup remote Windows servers is a paid option, you will require a Remote Agent license installed on the remote Windows system.

Regarding license numbers & purchasing/upgrade details, please contact VERITAS Sales or get in touch with our local sales representative

Kishore.
