Just wondered if anyone had come across some software that could do this:

We have a Iomega Peerless drive and 5 disks we use for offsite backup. This is a supplement to streamed ftp offsite backup.

Each disk holds several zipped aged backups of key data - we have some large mdb files to backup and we like to keep periodical backups. It works very well except it takes 2.5 hours to back up everything.

What we want to acheive is a semi-automated, streaming solution that does backups all day. For example it periodically copies the key data files over the course of a day and prompts the user at intervals to insert the appropriate disk and copies the zipped files over, say every cpl of hours.

At the end of the day it could then complete the backup with any files not already sent to the disks.

Any ideas ?

Life is a blast when you have a semi-automatic..

Relative Rev Backup might help you. It can be set to take incremental backup in short periods of time, and any restore is a single session.

Only files that are new will be added, and you will also be able to set some automatic retention of these backups. Backup media can be rotataed off site.

look into
