My OS is Windows XP SP2. I want to find a good backup program for my whole system. I purchased Norton Ghost 9.0, but it caused mountains of problems (icons disappeared from the desktop, after clicking anything it took about 20 minutes to respond). I spent about 3 weeks with Symantec's email support. That was a nightmare; they just shot in the dark and never got to a solution. There are no conflicts between Ghost and any other installed program. I read an article in "Smart Computing" that evaluated 4 backup software programs: Backup Manager, Backup MyPc Deluxe 6.0, Backup Now! 4.0 Deluxe, and ShadowBack. Has anyone had experience with these programs? Has anyone else had an experience similar to mine with Ghost? If so, were you able to fix it? Any suggestions would be SO appreciated! Thanks

Haven't used Ghost 9 yet - but have used Ghost 2003 a fair amount (mainly for cloning rather than backup - though some backup too) and have found it very good generally (though you generally have to run 'outside the operating system' to back it up - which I though Ghost 9 had overcome - though running from Bart PE disk is easy).

Haven't tried any of those you mentioned.

Try Acronics True Image. I tried them all and this seems to be the best of the lot. I use the server version but the standard version should do just as well for normal backups. Regards
