This is probably due to a problem with the arcserve database. What is the version of arcserve you are using ?
What is the database type default/standard or SQL ?
Could be "open file retry". If you have set it to retry at end of job.
May also have problems with a given file open/lock mode. Try changing this.
I have seen many problems where attempts to back up open files "hang" the job, but this was on Netware. We have had so many problems with open files in the past that I don't even attempt to back them up at all now. I look through the list of skipped files for user IDs in path names and tell the culprits who don't log out that their files aren't getting backed up (tough!).
