We currently use NBU 5.1 and Oracle 10G, does any one have a pro or con on what application schedules the RMAN backup?

Any feed back would be helpful.

Tim

I've found that many dba's prefer to use their own scheduler and submit the jobs via the scheduler (cron etc...)as user requested backups.
This gives them a warm fuzzy to have this little bit of control and helps to keep them busy and out of my hair :)

Just because the VERITAS documentation states a certain thing does not make it a fact and that is truth.

Warm and fuzzy is ok, but any technical reason to use the scheduled backup in veritas vs user requested manual backup in 10G?

Thanks Bob
Tim

using the veritas schedule allows you to manage tape resources
