After suffering a server crash and re-installing SBS 4.5, I tried to restore the Exchange server from an ntbackup backup.

This trashed the entire Exchange installation and I ended up having to re-install SBS again.

I don't need everything in the Exchange backup, but there are some e-mail address and messages in the Public Store that I would like to retreive.

Is there any way I can do this, or are there any companies out there that are able to extract data?

Thanks for any tips.
Refer to the thread by bjgadmin titled "Move Exchange DB to a new server" and you can get a few answers to restoring Exchange database. Exchange is very restrictive as to what parameters have to match in order to do a restore. You can only transfer the database to a roughly identical server.
What kind of crash did you get and what were the errors?
