backup remote server strategy

Hi,
I have 4 servers onsite that are backed up with Veritas backup Exec 9.5. I now have a remote site with 2 servers (1 x file server, 1 x AD/Exchange). The remote site has dds tape backups but I am relying on non tech staff to do this & its is failing miserably!
Has anyone any thoughts on how I could backup remote data (full server), perhaps disk to disk? We connect via VPN over the internet on 2Mb leased line service..

Could run a backup to disk on the remote site.
Use Veritas CPS and replicate the disk data to your site to another storage location?

Havent tested but sound like it would work ..except a restore would be 3 step backwards to get the data back.
Why not invest in a autoloader
