Can i backup raw device with the 'savevg' command ? Else how can i do this ?
Thanks

hi,

in the man page of savevg it says ' A volume group must be varied-on, and the file systems must be mounted '
so from this raw devices are not filesystems and won't be backed up . Have you tried a savevg? if not try ut and have a look at what gets backed up ?

TO backup raw device , you can use the dd comand

dd if=/dev/rlv01 of=/dev/rmt0 bs=64k

Yes of course i try it, but it doesn't really work... the LV definition have been backuped but not the contents. I try the 'dd' command...
