Hi

I am currently looking at managing over 100 Md110's from a central location. All of them will eventually be at BC12 software and connected to the LAN/WAN for administration. For desaster recovery reasons we want to take regular backups of each system and have them stored off site, possibly on a central server. I am aware that you can FTP into the NIU and wanted to know that if we copy the files from either USR1/SES/DR/REL1 or USR2/SES/DR/REL2 depending upon which is the latest backup, would keeping these files on a server and making them available to a mentainer in the event of a disaster be of any use to them to recover the system to its last configuration

Thanks

Dave

Hi,

That will work fine. If you need to use the backup files they have to be copied to a new HDU and that can be done in another MD110 equipped with NIU.
I have used this method a lot and I normally start the copying from a higher level than REL1 or REL2. Doing this you also get a backup of other data e.g. TM.

a valid REL can always be copied onto a HDU to start up a system again.
The maintainer needs first to prepare the disk by making the filesystem . Then he loads the REL which was sent e.g. as a zip file from the central office.
