Does anyone know what this might be?

GROUPW1.GroupWise System/GROUPW1.GroupWise System/3[DMS]lib0001

GROUPW1.GroupWise System/GROUPW1.GroupWise System/3[DMS]lib0002

GROUPW1.GroupWise System/GROUPW1.GroupWise System/3[DMS]lib0003

A couple months ago my GroupWise backup size doubled in size. Our consultant had created new jobs and when I compared the old job to the new job the above items were selected in the new job, but were not even available in the old job.

From what I can tell they are just pointers to the GWDMS folder.

Any other insight?

Thanks!!
Chris

In looking at the further, what is the difference in backing up the GroupWise System/1[PO]Post Office vs. the Server/Volume/Post Office directory?

Right now both are getting backed up, which makes sense as to why I'm doubled the size now. Can either one be removed from the backup and still ensure that the Post office will be able to be restored?

Thanks,
Chris

The first one... You're using the GroupWise TSA (GWTSA.NLM). This makes your backup system see GroupWise as a separate resource, and backs up everything accordingly.

You are also backing up the files, probably as a full backup... And that is pretty normal, although you could choose one or the other. You didn't list your version, but with GW7, the preferred way is through the file system by using switches on TSAFS /ENABLEGW=YES and TSAFSGW.NLM which is a helper app.

Some people have luck with the first method, others with the second. You should do some test restores from both and determine which one works best for you. The File system method is actually more straightforward, in my opinion. it is my preference.

Code:
TSAFS /ENABLEGW=YES
also works with GW 6.5. Like Marvin says, do several test restores. For me it was easy to backup GW, but lots of problems restoring.

i do both on system that time allows

file system is easier and more straight forward to restore so on one's with time constraints i do this

Thanks for the responses. We use GW 6.5.7.

Going to remove the GroupWise resource, and just backup the file system. Will try restoring after a backup happens.
