I have WinNT4/SuSE Linux servers on my network. I want to backup the Samba shares on Linux server using Ecrix VXA tape installed on the Linux box (have only one Linux server). I have tried BRU demo for 30 days. It functions ok but not impressive, XBRU screen will not expand to see longer file names (like looking thru a small window!!), some tape statistics (like number of files, percent used, etc) do not seem to be available. Also, was not able to get the CRON scheduler to work.

I need to either purchase BRU ($300) or find a better alternative. If there is nothing better at this time, I will go ahead but if you have a suggestion, please reply.

Thanks,

Check out this might be the answer to your question. Hope it helps. d3funct

The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.

I'm not sure if it has x capability, but lon-tar is available for some versions of limux now. I've used it for years on my sco box and it has saved me on more than one occaission.
