I'm having trouble using the built in back-up command in Access 2000. I close all the windows (except the database window itself), go to the database utilities menu, and "Back-Up" is always shaded as not being available. I have tried everything I can think of, and I haven't seen any forums with anything like this listed. I have been backing up my work with copy and paste in windows explorer, Eventually, I would like to create a button to close the database at the end of the day which first compacts and repairs the DB, then saves a backup copy, then closes the database. Right now it is in development, but since I'm only an intern doing this project, I might not be around forever to copy and paste at the end of every day ;-). I need there to be some automation for it, and I just can't get it to work.

Thanks everyone :)

This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but it may be of interest to you.

Helen Feddema and Susan Harkins are noted for their Access prowess. Here's a link to show a Backup routine that can be used from within Access to do a Backup.

I have used this routine since I first saw it.
